I was on a trip recently, where I had a night on my own before joining a larger group. Normally, I'm a room service girl on nights like that, but something (maybe a distant memory of this video) inspired me to go out to a fancy restaurant and enjoy dinner on my own. I was so proud of myself and I really did enjoy it. The next morning at breakfast (in the inn where I was staying) another guest approached me and said she and her husband had seen me all alone the night before and felt so bad for me. I just smiled and commented on what a nice place it was, but I was so offended! I guess the world isn't quite ready to accept aloneness, as Tanya's poem suggests - but maybe one day we'll get there - one courageous, lonely step at a time!

Thanks Carla, for posting this. This is beautiful and so perfect for all 'aloners' :). I've reposted this to my blog - hope you don't mind.
