At 11:40 the words, "This day keeps getting better!" flew out of my mouth. I'll tell you 13 reasons why.
- A morning with Maya Stein. Not the least bit happy to say farewell, but oh so immensely grateful for a new friendship. Her companionship immediately felt as comfortable and easy as a favorite pair of jeans.
- Meeting Mom at Northwest Christian Thrift Store to inspect a wicker chair she found for my front porch. Loving the porch chair and (drumroll) . . .
- Unexpectedly seeing, falling in love with and buying the dining room set of my dreams! :D I've waited 3 years to find the perfect table and chairs and today I did, at a phenomenal price. Probably no coincidence I put into practice The Law of the Ugly Chair.
- Winning a free brownie from TASTE Café & Gourmet To Go. Saving it for Colleen, who despite being tired came in tonight for emergency candle-wicking.
- Running into a friend at TASTE.
- Exiting TASTE with free brownie in hand and being greeted by another friend. It was at this point I shouted "This day keeps getting better!"
- Noon AA meeting.
- Editing photos from last night's writing workshop held at my house. For the first time in countless years, I'm experiencing how I want my life to look, be and feel.
- Seeing Colleen's look of sheer bliss biting into the brownie.
- Listening to Colleen sing while she worked.
- Basking in this week's bounty of connections and love.
- Found notes.
- Leftover apple crisp.
The only thing that would've made today better is Lucy, here, in her body. That's the truth every day. But her passing is what it is. Acceptance. Gratitude. Enjoyment. Not much beats experiencing all three, even at varying degrees, simultaneously.
