Your post breaks my heart, but breaking can be a good thing. It breaks open, and more opening, for me is always good. I lost a 12 year old cat several years ago very suddenly, and shockingly, so I have an idea of what you are experiencing. I wish I had consoling words, but the best I can say is that I hold you in my heart, in love.
Blessings,
Atmara

I am so sorry for your loss, Carla. I just lost my 6 month old puppy to a rattlesnake bite. My animals are my children too. Sending you peace, comfort and sisterhood.

Carla, I have never commented on your blog before but been here and read often. I am so sorry for your loss, I feel your pain and distress! It is indeed a beautiful gift that you were there with her...I know, I have been there before. I especially feel your pain at the moment as I am in the throws of loosing my beloved pet bunny of 8 years to cancer. As with you my animals are my children! Although I am late on finding this post and by now some of your pain has healed I still send you and Lucy positive energies and thoughts as I know the pain never completely goes away and your heart will always be together.
Hugs,
Beth P

This was very moving and I am so sorry about your sudden and tragic loss of Lucy. Although I only met you today, Carla, I can tell that your dogs have the best home ever.
