8 Things About Me

Even though I've played before, I was totally delighted to be tagged by Delila. Thanks darlin'! Here is the deal:

1.) We have to post these rules before we give you the facts.
2.) Players start with eight random facts/habits about themselves.
3.) People who are tagged write their own blog post about their eight things and include these rules.
4.) At the end of your blog, you need to choose eight people to get tagged and list their names.

Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them they’re tagged and they should read your blog.

8 Random Things About Me

  1. Carla Blazek is a tough name for a little kid to pronounce so when I was little I pronounced my name Ta Ta Bayzee. My Mom still calls me Ta, which I love.
  2. I am secretly anti-yoga. Not because I hate doing it. I actually kind of like doing it. But yoga has become such a commercialized cliche; and often when I hear a conversation about it I invariably want to scream over the pretentiousness of it all.
  3. I'm a great listener.
  4. I have a handwriting fetish. I loveLoveLOVE cool handwriting. I love my own handwriting and have modified it over the years when I've discovered cooler ways to write. I am constantly playing with my handwriting. I would LOVE to learn calligraphy! I can mimic almost anyone's neat, artsy handwriting (it's like drawing), but I cannot replicate messy handwriting.
  5. I need a LOT of quiet downtime. I no longer apologize for, explain or try to change this.
  6. I have committed to myself to be committed to ME for at least one full calendar year -- no dating, no emotional or physical entanglements. Just me (and of course God, my family and friends).
  7. I wish I could get a massage every day for the rest of my life. :)
  8. Few things make me happier than swimming laps in an outdoor pool on a summer day, feeling the sun and water on my skin. I love the cold wet cement floors of locker rooms, tight sore muscles and I especially love smelling like chlorine afterwards. In fact, it's time to put on my suit and head to the pool right now!

I tag anyone who wants to play! Please leave a comment here so I can read your 8 random facts too!

When Breathing Is Enough

338396880_11548402f3

Never mind trying to be extraordinary, phenomenal, brilliant. There are periods in life when it takes every scrap of what's left of one's energy just to sit upright.

Be gentle with yourself today.

Ideas

  • Light candles. Unplug the phone after 6pm. Practice saying no. Take a walk alone. Limit your news intake. Pray. Swing on a swingset! Listen to mellow music. Meditate. Take a mini-retreat. Watch PBS. Color in a coloring book. Mimic your cat. Read brainfluff novels. Read Rumi. Read in a library. Read in a café. Read in bed. Ask for help. Nap in a sunbeam. Snuggle. Soak your feet. Doodle. Indulge in guilty pleasure TV. Get a massage. Stroll through a garden you don't have to weed. Make love. Burn your shoulds. Lower your standards. Accept help. Write a gratitude list. Breathe.
