Sacred Life Sunday: Wonder, Grace, Spirit
God speaks to each of us as he makes us;
then walks with us silently out of the night.
These are the words we dimly hear:
You, sent out beyond your recall,
go to the limits of your longing.
Embody me.
Flare up like flame
and make big shadows I can move in.
Let everything happen to you:
beauty and terror.
Just keep going,
no feeling is final.
Don’t let yourself lose me.
Nearby is the country they call life.
You will know it by its seriousness.
Give me your hand.
Ranier Maria Rilke

Beautiful work, beautiful image. I am always pleased to see their is a new post here.
Rilke's poem truly resonates with what I have been experiencing lately - "Flare up like a flame and make big shadows I can move in" - I think I am ready to ignite!

What a beautiful poem and image.
There is so much here - I love the idea of God speaking to us in our creation and then quieting into a dim voice we have to be open to in order to hear. And the idea that life begins when we go to the edge of our longings - I know that is the truth.
Thanks for all the light you bring into the world with your candles and your writing.

I love Rilke but never read this poem. Now I'm going to have to pin it to the inspiration board over my desk to remind me...
