Sacred Life Sunday: Exquisite Awareness
Just home from a deeply fulfilling weekend in Seattle, which included...
- Grilled salmon dinner caught, cooked and served by Bryon
- Warm, welcoming hugs from Bryon's roommates
- Laughter and ice cream
- A heavenly Aveda facial
- Trip to IKEA for new duvet covers
- 9 hours sleep on soft clean flannel sheets
- Seeing my spiritual director and beloved friend Sister Cathy
- Top Pot Doughnuts (good thing I left Seattle soon after discovering these or I'd be in serious trouble)
- Visiting my Seattle AA home group -- my tribe! -- basking in their love, wisdom and fellowship
- Flowers (shown above) from a loving spitfire of an older woman
- Attending my goddaughter Marissa's 6th birthday party
- Driving across this magnificent state I love with all my heart
- A group of sixtysomething women traveling without men joyfully whooping it up and shaking their booties at a rest area
- Walking into my house
There is so much richness in life when I am present, receptive and available!

Goodness, Carla! That was a *weekend*? Sounds like a two-week trip to me!
It is marvelous to read all the great events and experiences you had, and to know that you were right there, right in the midst of each one!
One of my insights during our recent vacation, as Julia and I started bemoaning that it was going too quickly, was exactly that same one: it cannot "go" anywhere unless you have left it to wander! We talked further and made the determination to be as present as we knew how to be for the last few days, and it helped immensely.

Wow, Carla, I'm with Rick. It sounds like two weeks to me, too.
SO...I want to be the FIRST ONE...and I think I made it, to wish you a HAPPY BIRTHDAY tomorrow! Happy Birthday to You, Carla...have a special, wonderful day to start out this new phase of your life.
Love and Birthday Blessings,
O

What a great weekend you had! The flowers are beautiful. I'm still working on the daily sacred life but I'm looking forward to joining the Sunday one when I finish.
I'd also like to thank you for starting the Sacred Life project. This has been a wonderful journey and is a great help in teaching me to look for the positive in each and every day instead of whinging!
