44 and Grateful

Img_3102

Yesterday I turned 44, with sooooo many wonderful, inspiring, nurturing and ultra-meaningful ideas from you how to celebrate that I've decided to celebrate all month! In some ways yesterday was like any other Wednesday, but with special twists throughout the day. I...

Met with my AA  sponsor. Special twist: I brought her a gift.

Attended Spirituality class at the Women's Hearth. Special twist: I brought everyone gifts (Sister Kathryn's Gaia Seeds and Angel Seeds).

Had lunch with my Mama at Shenanigans overlooking the Spokane River. You wouldn't believe how much that 110-lb woman can put away, especially when tempted with mud pie. This was my first birthday in Spokane since I turned 17, and my first as a single woman since I turned 30 in Prague -- so this one is/was very special!

Got a Caribbean Therapy Pedicure at Mosaic Spa. Special twist: Because it was my birthday, they gave me a free manicure (my poor beat-up working hands loved it).

Went to my favorite AA meeting. Special twist: Extra loving because Monday I celebrated 2 years sobriety. Lots to celebrate this week/month!

Had dinner with my parents at my house. Special twist: Mom fixed my favorite meal, fried chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy. For presents I got a snow shovel and season tickets (right behind the bench!) to Gonzaga Women's Basketball, both of which I asked for. Yep, I'm a Spokane girl now! :)

With the expensive dental work I'm having done, would you believe I actually considered making that my birthday present to myself? Luckily I recognized this as pure insanity and quickly came to my senses. Instead I'm going to splurge and buy myself a snazzy road bike! I've wanted one forever and I'll need one well before next year's triathlon. Marla Emde is taking me shopping later this month. Not about to do this or really much of anything anymore without guidance and support.

I am beyond grateful for my life. It is rich and abundant with love, and what amazes and delights me the most is that I am beginning to be really really happy being Carla.
