This House is a Woman's House
My Sacred Life
Day 18
She hangs outside my back door. I found her in Elk, California, one of the most breathtaking little towns I've ever visited. I'd go back in a heartbeat!
There is nothing in my house I don't absolutely love. When I moved, I was careful, mindful and current. I either sold or gave away everything I didn't absolutely love. Now every room of my house reflects me, what is beautiful to me, what I hold sacred. There's no clutter, even in my closets. Only what I treasure. And necessary records required by the IRS. :) Doing this has made me feel current, clean and indescribably clear inside.

Oh Carla,
She's beautiful..sacred and stunning. The way you describe your house, and how you created it...it where I am right now. I've got too much that I don't love, plus I'm seeking to live in a place I do love...that has enough room for ME, and what I absolutely love. I will keep your words in mind as I work to create a home that makes me feel...as you say, "current, clean and indescribably clear inside."
Thank you for the inspiration.

I love this image, she is so fleshy and lovely! I also love the photo of your sweet dog healing. I am adoring this sacred life project you began!

She is wonderful! My house is MUCH better than it used to be in regards to clutter. There always seems to be something new that it's time to get rid of. I sometimes think that is because I keep getting rid of more emotional clutter and then need to reflect it in my house! Or maybe it's the other way around! :):)

Wow, she's absolutely fabulous! I have a mermaid holding her tail, but your woman combing her hair is just beautiful (I thought she was an angel at first glance). I understand the no clutter thing (can tell you don't have kids living with you!) There is so much peace to be gained by living only with the essential and loved items. I have to hold myself back from culling. I'm not a minimalist, but just love the feeling of simplicity!

Beautiful. I feel the same way about my small little place.

Good going, Carla! I can only imagine how wonderful it must feel to have accomplished what you have in making your home your sanctuary.

I LOVE IT, I LOVE IT, I LOVE IT!
How delightful to have space that is ALL YOU! I can't even wrap my head around what that must be like. The only time in my life when it was the Eileen Show was back in the 80s - which seems like a million years ago. I am so happy that you are in a good space, Carla. You rock.

I wish I could say the same thing, that there is nothing in my house that I don't love; but I live with my fiance and our son, both of whom love to collect and keep junk around. Grrr. The idea that you live in a "Woman's House" is so powerful. I miss those days.

Carla,
What a wonderful post! Your very words about organization/no clutter have really spoken to me. I'm in the process now of deep cleaning the house. As I finish one area, I feel much more centered inside. Also wanted to say that I treasure everything in my house. To me, my house is such a reflection of me. It's the place I can't wait to get home to at the end of the day. When my ex-husband moved out, I made a vow to replace all the art work on the walls with my own original pieces. Now, my house is like an ever changing little art gallery!

I love Elk and the surrounding towns from Fort Bragg to Gualuala and everything in between. Had a friend who lived in Manchester who I visited often. I got married in Fort Bragg, honeymooned in Mendocino. Beautiful area. We return there often. Not surprised you found your lovely garden lady there.
